3 Must-Have Transseasonal Pieces

3 Must-Have Transseasonal Pieces

The transition between seasons presents a few style challenges. The weather can vary wildly, and you find yourself stuck somewhere between coats and swimsuits. How do you bridge the gap between beanies, scarfs and coats and short shorts, floaty dresses and rompers? The key lies in clever layering, opting for natural fabrics and selecting a few core pieces to see you through until the seasons have well and truly changed.

A Lightweight Jacket

There are a few different options when it comes to outerwear for those in between months. A denim jacket can be the perfect light weight piece to help you make the smooth transition from season to season and will work back with 90% of the other items in your wardrobe – t-shirts, jeans, dresses, jumpsuits. A cotton blazer is another great option, avoid black or grey for a more light hearted, trans-seasonal look and opt for nude, neutrals, soft pinks or pastel shades for an on trend look. Another great option is an anorak in a soft, drape fabric. Go for minimal detail and olive green, navy or nude.

A Tea Dress

A perfect item for its versatility, a tea dress can be styled with a leather or denim jacket just as easily as it can be styled on it’s own with a simple sandal. The feminine ease of this style lends itself to all types of outfits and evokes a chic confidence with a slightly retro vibe. Look for fun colors. This is one piece that works best when interpreted in a light-hearted and youthful way.

A Button Up Shirt

A wardrobe staple, the button up shirt is the number one trans-seasonal piece, especially in a linen or crisp cotton variety. The right shirt should be light weight enough to work in any season, made of natural fibers and be easily tucked in, sleeves rolled, unbuttoned, etc. For the warmer months, a button up shirt can be tucked into a pencil skirt or mini skirt or knotted at the front and paired back with your favorite jeans. You can even get adventurous and style it back to front for an open backed outfit. When it comes to color, go for white or baby blue to inject a fresh and modern appeal to any outfit.
