How to Make Comfort Chic

Fall is in full swing, and that means cozying up because of the cooler weather. Sometimes we want to pick comfort over fashion, but it isn’t as hard as it might seem to do both. To help you master the art of comfortably chic, we are here to help you!

Sweater Weather- The favorite piece for many during the cooler seasons is the sweater, and the fall runways were covered in them. So when you just want to throw on a big, comfy sweater, you are not making a fashion faux pas; rather, you are rocking the looks of the runways. This year, we saw many oversized chunky sweaters, including turtlenecks, animal prints, and stripers. This year the fashion gurus themselves are embracing comfort with their style.

Step Up Your Legging Game- How many pairs of leggings are in your closet? Now, how many of them are basic black leggings? There is absolutely nothing wrong with that, but to avoid too much repetition, you can explore different colors, prints, and textures. This way you can keep the comfort but change it up a little. Wear a pair of hunter green leggings with a chunky cream sweater and some brown boots. This look is perfect for a fall day, or even transitioning to the holiday season!

Shoes- Sometimes all you need to pull an outfit together is a good pair of shoes. For fall and winter months, you can make boots the star of your wardrobe. You can put on your most comfortable outfit, maybe an oversized and leggings; but to pull it all together and make your outfit a statement, you can add some over-the-knee boots. If thigh high is edgier than you prefer, a nice pair of riding boots does the same thing.

Layers- When you talk about fall and winter outfits, it is hard to imagine them without layers. So when striving for comfort and style in the colder weather, layering in your best friend. A personal favorite is using flannels. On those days where it is still kind of warm, but also getting cooler, pair an oversized flannel with some boots, jeans, and a t-shirt. Then if it gets warm, tie the flannel around your waist. It is a subtle nod to the grunge look of the 90’s. Don’t be afraid to experiment with layers in terms of sweaters, jackets, scarves, and tights.

When the weather starts to cool, sometimes all you want is to be cozy, but luckily there are ways to incorporate the latest trends with your comfort. So this year try to find a balance of both. Stay warm and stay chic!
