It is getting more and more difficult to pin down a set of key trends each season as fashion becomes more eclectic, global and sped up. The beauty of this means there is something for everyone but the challenge of so many options begs the question “Where do I even start?” We have locked down 3 key (and fun!) trends from the dozens hitting runways, all wildly different but each have something for everyone.
On the hunt for an alternative to the often uncomfortable and impractical skirt? Jump on board the Safari inspired look of a pair of “sensible shorts”. Tailored shorts are the new it item and thank the fashion gods because these could not be more comfortable and easy to wear. Look for longer, billowy styles in khaki, beige and neutrals to nail the look and style with a simple white tee or button up shirt. Add a brown or tan belt and a simple slide for a chic and effortless look or throw on a relaxed blazer to take it to a more put together level. The final touch? A pair of chunky, medium sized gold hoops.
Re-think the way you view tie dye, it has had a serious makeover! This once tacky trend has been updated and is now the height of chic and fashion forward. Think feminine ruffles, maxi dresses, low-cut v styles, suiting – basically anything which steers away from the tie-dye tee of seasons past. Also, rethink the classic tie die colors, now it is all about yellows, muted tones and soft pinks. Keep the look simple, summery and minimalist with pared back accessories, a top knot and a less-is-more makeup look.
Time to go west. Cowboy inspired looks are on their way back following the return of cowboy boots last season. The go-to injection of fringe often comes on bags but feel free to embrace this look whole heartedly and invest in a fringe maxi skirt or soft toned leather jacket, just remember to opt for muted tones like white, grey and neutrals to keep the look modern and fresh and take it out of country territory to clean, city chic.
